UMTS Modem in Ubuntu 14.04

Salut!

Ich bin die Anleitung vom ThinkWiki durchgegangen, um das UMTS Modem meines TP Edge 13 unter Ubuntu 14.04 ans laufen zu bekommen. gobi-loader-tp installiert etc. Leider wird nach nmcli dev kein GSM Gerät angezeigt. Habe dann festgestellt, dass ModemManager mit folgender Fehlermeldung abstürzt: "Could not acquire the 'org.freedesktop.ModemManager1' service name". Das Kopieren der ModemManager1.service wie hier empfohlen, hat das Problem nicht gelöst.

Hat noch Jemand eine Idee? Vielen Dank im Voraus!!

Hast Du geprüft, dass die Firmware geladen wird – sprich: was sagt

Woher stammt die Firmware und aus welchem Ordner genau?

ps2. lief das mit einem Ubuntu < 14.04 schon mal?

ps. gobi-loader-tp solltest Du wieder durch gobi-loader ersetzen, wenn letzteres die Firmware sauber lädt (es gibt ja auch kein Paket gobi-loader-tp für Trusty im PPA ...)

Also lsub gibt mir unter Anderem "Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05c6:9204 Qualcomm, Inc." (Firmware wird also geladen oder?)
Die Firmware habe ich runter geladen (Link im ThinkWiki)
 
Nein 9204 am Ende sagt das die Firmware eben nicht geladen wurde.

Ist noch ein Windows auf der Kiste?

Also an mein altes Windows komme ich gerade nicht so leicht dran (geographische Distanz: 45km).

(Firmware geladen oder?) Eine Verbindung bekomme ich aber leider immer noch nicht.

Zu den für mich/den Laien erkennbaren Symptomen: Im GUI kann ich jetzt das Häkchen bei "Mobiles Breitband aktivieren" setzen und eine neue Verbindung "Mobiles Breitband" einrichten. Wenn ich sie wähle rödelt er aber nur kurz und dann ist das Häkchen wieder weg und ich hab nach wie vor keine Verbindung.

Eine Idee wie ich nach der Fehlerquelle suchen kann? Danke für eure Hilfe!!

Ja, die SIM ist richtig drin. Könnte es mit der eingangs erwähnten Meldung vom ModemManager zusammen hängen?

Das passt.

Wir können versuchen den Verbindungsaufbaus zu debuggen:

Zuerst den NM beenden mit

sudo stop network-manager
sudo killall modem-manager
ps -efw | grep -i "NetworkManager\|modem-manager" | grep -v "grep"
Der letzte Befehl darf keinen Output liefern, nur dann ist der NM vollständig beendet.

Als nächstes brauchen wir 2 Terminalfenster. 1. Fenster:

2. Fenster:

NM_PPP_DEBUG=1 sudo NetworkManager --no-daemon

Nun machst Du einen Verbindungsversuch und pastest den kpl. Output beider Fenster hier

Um den NM anschließend wieder in den Normalzustand zu versetzen, in beiden Terminalfenstern mit Strg+C abbrechen und

Es läuft!! Endlich!! Ich habe mich mittlerweile zu meinem alten Windows bewegt, dann die drei Firmware Dateien von dort kopiert, dabei die UQCN.mbn gewählt, die laut dem ThinkWiki für T-Mobile bestimmt ist. (SIM ist in meinem Fall von Congstar) Und jetzt läufts. Vielen Dank für eure Hilfe!! Die hat mich vor der Verzweiflung bewahrt.

Das NM Log zeigt übrigens sowas wie eine erfolgreiche Verbindung auf usb0. War da ein UMTS-Stick im Spiel?

@mrehm: hier geht es die ganze Zeit um Ubuntu. Nur die Firmware wurde wie üblich aus einer Windowsinstallation geborgt.

SIM-Karte ist richtig herum drin, PIN wurde abgefragt, Verbindung für Vodafone auch angelegt. Wenn ich im NetworkManager auf "Vodafone Default" klicke, ändert sich das Icon ganz kurz und restauriert sich.

Der QMI protocol error oben beunruhigt mich etwas - welche Version ist die UQCN.mbn von https://www.nerdstube.de/lenovo/treiber/gobi/UQCN.mbn ?
Eventuell brauche ich ja die spezielle für Vodafone, so wie der TE oben die für T-Mobile?

EDIT: Es lag wohl an einer nicht passenden UQCN.mbn. Ich habe den Gobi2000 Treiber von Lenovo hier heruntergeladen, wine installiert, den Treiber unter Wine installiert und dann alle drei Files aus dem Subdir 0/ nach /lib/firmware/gobi kopiert. Neustart und es funktioniert! Vielleicht sollten wir im Wiki ergänzen, für welches Netz die drei Files auf nerdstube.de funktionieren. Oder, wenn sich die Erlaubnis von Lenovo auf alle Firmware-Files erstreckt, dann auch alle zum Download anbieten?
