Ja, du warst ja schon auf dem richtigen Weg. Die Cisco Aironet Karte wir eben nicht durch eine Setup.exe installiert sondern durch "update driver" oder den "Found new hardware wizard". Folge mal Schritt für Schritt der nachfolgenden Anleitung in der Update Install Section. Alternativ kannst du die Wlan Karte komplett aus dem Device Manager löschen, nach einem Neustart sollte dann der new hardware wizard anlaufen, falls du lieber dieser Installationsvariante folgen möchtest. Wenn beides nicht klappt meld dich noch mal, dann probieren wir mit der Umgebungsvariablen 'devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1' das Ding erst mal wieder ganz zu löschen. Den Punkt Aironet Client Utility brauchst du nicht ausführen, Firmware Update kannst du ausführen, dazu sollte die Karte aber erst mal fehlerfrei eingebunden sein.
Windows XP
Update install
To update the driver:
1. Start Windows XP.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
4. Click the Performance and Maintenance icon and then click the
System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab.
6. Click the Device Manager button.
7. Click the + mark to expand Network adapters or Other devices.
8. Right-click Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter in the Network
adapters section or Network Controller in the Other devices
section and then click Properties.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button.
11. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and
then click Next.
12. Select Search for the best driver in these locations.
13. Select Include this location in the search only.
14. Specify the path to sub-directory \PCC-MPI\XP with the full
path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Copy
manufacturer's files from: and then click Next.
The Driver installation starts. After this step, the installer
may display a "Digital Signature not found" message. Click
Continue Anyway if this message appears.
15. Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
16. Restart the computer.
Clean install: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If this is the first time booting Windows XP after installing the
Cisco Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Card in the computer, Windows XP will
detect the card automatically. To install the device driver, follow
the instructions below.
1. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
2. Start Windows XP. The Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box is
displayed.
3. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and
click Next.
4. Select Search for the best driver in these locations.
5. Select Include this location in the search only.
6. Specify the path to sub-directory \PCC-MPI\XP with the full
path name where you extracted the package in the step 1 in Copy
manufacturer's files from:.
7. Click Next.

Aironet Client Utility
1. Start Windows.
2. Click Start and then click Run.
3 In the Run dialog window, specify IWSETUP.EXE with the full path
name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click
OK.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5. Restart the system.
Firmware
1. Open Aironet Client Utility.
2. Click the Load Firmware icon.
3 Specify the file name of the Firmware with the full path name
where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
