[x201T] BIOS Update über USB

Hallo,

wie Flashe ich das BIOS am besten über einen USB-Stick? Der USB-Stick ist bootbar und DOS ist installiert, aber welches BIOS verwende ich?

Die ISO-Datei beinhaltet keine sichtbaren Daten und das Tool für Windows extrahiert viele Daten. Kann ich die extrahierten Daten einfach auf den USB-Stick kopieren und eine Ausführen? Wenn ja, welche?

Hast Du mal versucht, mit Winrar o.ä. die ISO auf den Stick zu entpacken? Dann davon booten und das sollte es eigentlich sein ...

In der ISO-Datei sind keine Daten vorhanden, es ist lediglich ein Bootsector vorhanden. Ich weiß aber leider nicht wie ich den unter Windows kopieren kann.

Ich habe gelesen, dass ein BIOS Update mittels Windows XP 32 Bit und dem Lenovo Tool sicher seinen soll. Wenn dem so wäre würde ich jetzt eben ein XP aufsetzen und damit das BIOS flashen.

Das Problem mit dem Windows-basierten Flashen ist: Kriegt Windows einen Schluckauf, ist das Mainboard hin. Das ist unter XP nicht anders. Wahrscheinlich ist das nicht, aber möglich; mir wäre das zu riskant.
Hast Du zum Auslesen der Dateien mal ISO-Buster probiert? Der kann angeblich auch aus ISO-Dateien alles herauslesen, aber selbst ausprobiert habe ich das noch nicht.

Ich hab auch schon gehört, dass man mit dem MS-USB-Tool für Windows 7 prinzipiell auch andere bootbare Dateien auf einen USB-Stick drauf machen können soll.
Das aber ohne Gewähr und probiert habe ich es selbst auch noch nicht.

Ich würde mein BIOS sowieso NUR über ein optisches Laufwerk flashen, alles andere wäre mir zu riskant.

Apologies for this being in english, it is my native tongue.

I came across this while looking for additional information while working on updating the bios on my tablet.

The download that you extracted (non-iso version) does not contain the required files to flash from dos.

That being said the iso, while it doesn't show any files when you open it, has a fat16 dos image embedded in it. the image is offset at 140 sectors, so in order to extract it you can use dd:

dd if=<downloaded_file.iso> of=<extracted_fat16_image.img> bs=512 skip=140

you can then get the required files from the image by mounting it with your favorite tool, ie:

mount -o loop <extracted_fat16_image_file> /path/to/mount

hope this is useful to someone, if someone would like to translate this so everyone else can read it feel free and include a link saying its translated from this post
