Hi TP-Experts,
after a few years, I need your help again. Would be really, really appreciated.
So did a fresh Install of Win98 SE on my TP600x:
1. Copy win98 folder of CD to C:\win98
2. Put APMINST.INF into C:\win98 folder and start installation in APM-mode:
'Setup C:\win98\apminst.inf'
(I did this because I downloaded all relevant stuff from the great TP-driver-site and there was a so called supplement disk
with this files and with this setup-command. So I assumed it is better for some reason instead of just calling setup)
3. I installed all drivers and some software from the driver website which I considered useful (for example On Screen Display for the function keys)
All looks good now (Device Manager lists all perfectly fine etc) except for one important thing:
The display is really dark. My TP600e is much brighter. I know for a fact that the display can be brighter
because when I press Fn + F3 the display turns black (like it should) and if I undo it by pressing again, the display becomes
active again and for a split second it is much brighter (as bright as my TP 600e display, so I consider that the norm).
Same with some other Fn+Key-combo. So the display can be brighter, some settings somewhere just make it darker.
Problem is that I can nowhere find for example a slider to increase the brightness of the display and I also see no symbol on my keyboard to increase
brightness (unlike for audio for example). But maybe I just am blind. I checked at many places, like in BIOS, like in Display Properties, in Power Managment (after installing some PowerManagement software for the TP600x)
Any ideas why my display is so dark? I am really desperate. Is it maybe because I did this 'install in APM-mode' thing?'
Kind regards, Mike
PS: If it is helpful, I could list all installation steps I did in the exact order because I wrote it down.
One correction: The APM-mode reason is unlikely because for my TP600e with the bright display, I also installed with 'Setup C:\win98\apminst.inf' and the display has normal brightness there.
