Hi, this is my first post in this forim.
Unfortunately, I don't speak German but this forum has been very helpful so I decided to share my recent mod.

I finally managed to squeeze a touch screen into an x61s.
surprisingly everything works : Cool:

comment and questions are welcome.

BTW, I am looking for an ultralight x61s screen to replace the broken one used in the mod.

Welcome to this forum.
Nice mod, but how did you connect the touch-panel to the system board?

You are in swizerland aren't you?

Willkommen im Forum.
Schöner Mod, aber wie hast Du das Touch-Panel mit dem System Board verbunden?
Kommst Du aus der Schweiz?

Nice, but we want the details.
Looks to be connected via USB?
Is there a touch panel in front of the screen now?
Did you use the ultralight display because it is thinner than the standard displays?

It has usb interface. Currently it not connected to the board, I just plug the usb from external port. But it can be easily connected to the board by mpcie adapter, or fingerprint sensor connector etc.

Yes, I live now in Switzerland

Nice, but we want the details.

Yes, the trick is in using ultralight lcd in an non-ultralight case. It gives the necessary extra mm to put the touch panel

Do you have a source, or a product name for the touch panel? Is it glossy or matt?

It would be very interesting to use it in an X61 Tablet SXGA+. There would not be any problems with the thickness. And it would be easy to get the wires through the central hinge.

Some XGA X61 tablets came with a touchscreen that is connected to the digitizer unit on the back. Someone on this board even looked for a broken panel with touchscreen in order to swap the digitizer glas to an SXGA+ panel, but I don't think he found one. If one got his hands on a XGA touchscreen, he could swap the glas to a SXGA+ panel fairly easy. Of course the original glass and glue have to be removed before. What I don't know of is what varieties of display cables exist. Maybe the SXGA+ cable doesn't have the necessary pins attached. In this case the fingerprint reader will have to be sacrificed or one would have to install a USB hub circuit board to connect both.
I'm sure it would be a cool mod, but after all it's a resistive touch screen that only works with pressure and is by far not precise.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately on ebay: Does not ship to Germany.
But i found it on the website. And i know that they ship to germany.

@Boggler I tried the Lenovo Fingertouch. Its a piece of junk. Needs too much pressure and is not responsive enough.

EDIT
We are making a mistake in assuming that the ultralight is the thinnest display used in the X6x.
I just measured an ultralight LTD121ECHB / FRU 13N7092. It is 4,9 mm.
A standard Samsung LTN121XJ-L07 / FRU 13N7096 is exactly the same. Removing the metal frame from the Samsung, and simply taping the front, will result in an even thinner display than the ultralight.

You are right to some extent, but there are other factors.
1. Ultralight's thickest part is at the bottom where the board is. While the most complicated part in terms of fitting is usually the top.

2. Ultralight is thickened artificially by its plastic borders. If you cut them carefully like I did, the thickness will lose 1.5 mm or even more at top.
