T430s Ubuntu 15.10 Stromverbrauch

Hi,
ich habe neulich den T430s geholt und möchte in der Zukunft ausschliesslich unter Linux arbeiten. Nur die Akkulaufzeit ist leider noch schlecht mit der Kiste. Ich lande meist bei 13-14 Watt im normalen Betrieb (Firefox + Thunderbird + 1 Virtualbox im idle + Editor + Helligkeit 50%). Ist der Wert normal oder gibt es noch Potential für weitere Sparmaßnahmen?

schon der zweite Linuxstromverbrauchsthread heute :D.

Ich finde den Wert nicht ungewöhnlich. Miß mal bitte unter Vergleichsbedingungen im Idle.


EDITH meint, irgendwas stimmt mit dem Stromsparmodus deiner CPU nicht:

Das steht in dem Link, der direkt darunter steht. Zeig uns am besten mal ein komplettes Systemlog (dmesg). Normalerweise kann man das ignorieren, bei einigen Controllerkombinationen (Notebook+SSD) kommt es allerdings zu Schreib- und/oder Lesefehlern.
 
Ok, anscheinend ist es wenig kritisch. Aber zurück zum eigentlichen Thema... ich habe heute folgenden Link gefunden und frage mich: wie hat er es geschafft, 7-8Watt im Betrieb zu bekommen. Selbst im Idle erreiche ich den Wert nie! 11W is normal bei T430(s) ???

Frag ihn. Vermutlich bei minimaler Helligkeit, das Backlight verbraucht voll aufgedreht ca. 4 W – siehe Vergleichsbedingungen.

Power Management Tools wie TLP beeinflussen nur Kernel und Treiber, nicht die Userland-Prozesse bzw. Anwendungen. Schau dir also an, ob es im Idle Prozesse mit hohem CPU-Verbrauch gibt, z.B. mit htop.
 
Beim Vergleichbedingung erreiche ich ca. 8-9Watt. Jedoch wenn ich im Web surfe, kein Video oder flash sondern nur hin und her scrollen geht der Verbrauch gleich auf 15-17Watt. Das ist doch ein wenig zu viel oder? Ich verwende Firefox...
 
Das ist absolut normal. Firefox braucht nunmal so viel Leistung.
 
Kann ich auch bestätigen, ist bei mir sowohl beim X220 als auch beim T520 mit dem Firefox so..

Zu Versuchszwecken kannst Du mal probieren nicht zu scrollen, sondern mit der Leertaste immer um eine Seite weiterzublättern, das braucht fast nichts zusätzliches an Energie.
Das ist aber nicht praktikabel, sondern eher für Akkulaufzeit-Rekordversuche beim Surfen gedacht.
 
Ich würde mal darauf tippen, dass man etwas sparsamer fährt, wenn man Animationen, Smooth Scrolling und das ganze Zeug im Firefox ausschaltet. Und ganz wichtig heutzutage: Einen Script Blocker zu verwenden, denn was vor allem CPU Zyklen und Strom frisst sind diese ganzen Scripts die im Hintergrund auf Seiten mitlaufen - Adblock hilft oft nur kosmetisch. Hier wäre RequestPolicy, NoScript, uBlock, uMatrix oder dergleichen angesagt.

Auch gibt es zu FF eine gefühlt leichtere Alternative in Pale Moon. Wenn es dir nichts ausmacht, 'Legacy' FF zu verwenden und evtl. nicht bei allen Addons die neuesten Versionen verwenden zu können. Einige gehen aber auch problemlos.

Ansonsten.. jo, TLP macht hier einiges. Was übrig bleibt ist wirklich nur Userland. HTOP hilft. PowerTOP auch, aber das liest nicht immer 100% korrekt aus was wieviel verbraucht.
 
bei htop sehe ich, dass FF ganz oben steht. Aber schon unglaublich, wie viel das scrollen allein frisst! Als Addon habe ich nur uBlock am laufen, nix weiter.
 
Statt Scrollen Bild auf/ab verwenden.

Man könnte noch via TLP (CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_BAT=) die CPU etwas drosseln. Das dürfte aber den Stromverbrauch nicht wirklich senken, da die CPU dann stattdessen länger an derselben Aufgabe rechnet.
