T420 wird unter Ubuntu 12.04 und ohne Last sehr heiß

Hallo zusmammen,

ich hab auf meinem T420 (i

5-2520M

8GB, SSD und NVIDIA Chip) Ubuntu 12.04 laufen und stelle fest, dass das Notebook beim Browsen recht schnell auf bis zu 90 Grad kommt. Unter Last, mehrere Browser, eclipse, Texteditor, mysql Tool, gehts dann auch mal gerne gegen 96 Grad, unter 90 fällt er dann eigentlich gar nicht mehr. Lüfter läuft ohne Last mit ca. 3800 RPM und unter last mit ca. 4500 RPM.

Mir kommen die Temperaturen, gerade ohne wirkliche Last recht hoch vor. Ich habe die Kiste auch schon mal aufgeschraubt um möglichen Staub aus dem Lüfter zu entfernen, aber da war nicht viel Staub vorzufinden, sodass das nicht viel gebracht hat.

Habt ihr irgendwelche Ideen, was ich noch machen könnte? Mir kommt es auch so vor, als hätte ich das Hitzeproblem auch erst seit ca. 1,5 Monaten.

Welchen Grafikkartentreiber hast du installiert? Den freien oder den von Nvidia selber?
Zudem hast du die Stromsparsachen (tlp) installiert und am laufen?

Hi,

ich muss zugeben, dass ich nicht wirklich der Linux Experte bin. Ich hatte damals als ich Ubuntu 11.10 installiert habe, versucht die Nvidia Treiber zu installieren (unter Additonal Drivers), das führe aber dazu, dass sich das System beim Booten aufgehangen hat und auch, zumindest für mich, nicht mehr zu retten war. Sodass ich es nochmals neu und ohne Nvidia Treiber installiert habe. Auf 12.04 habe ich dann von diesem System aus upgegradet. Unter Additional Drivers steht, dass keine Treiber installiert sind, es werden allerdings auch keine aufgelistet, die installiert werden könnten.

tlp hatte ich bisher nicht laufen. Kannte ich bis eben gar nicht. Ich hab es aber installiert. Gibt es irgendwelche Tipps bezüglich der Konfiguration, oder kann man die Standardeinstellungen lassen?

Also ich hab tlp direkt nach der Installation gestartet, aber bisher hat das keine Verbesserung gebracht. Ich hab den Rechner am Netzteil und er ist immer noch bei 81 Grad, ohne dass viel zu tun hat.

welche grafikkarte ist denn im bios aktiviert, intel ("integrated"), nvidia ("discrete") oder beide ("optimus")? im falle von optimus sind beide grafikchips aktiv, doch linux steuert afaik nur den von intel an, während der von nvidia unbenutzt und ohne powermanagment vor sich hinheizt. die sparsamste und kühlste variante ist nur die intel-grafik zu benutzen.

wenn du optimus nutzen möchtest, musst du dich mit bumblebee auseinandersetzen, was etwas bastelarbeit erfordern wird und leider einige einschränkungen mit sich bringt. wirklich optimal funktionieren laptops mit optimus leider nicht grade unter linux.

In der Tat: entweder nur "Integrated" (meine Empfehlung wenn keine Grafikleistung für Spiele oder CAD benötigt) oder Bumlebee lt. uu-Wiki (Bastelarbeiten sind eigentlich nicht mehr nötig).

So danke erst mal für eure Hilfe.

Meine Karte war auf Optimus gestellt. Ich hab jetzt mal Bumblebee installiert, sodass ich bei Bedarf auf die Nvidia Karte zurückgreifen kann. Es scheint sich auch auf die Temperatur ausgewirkt zu haben. Diese liegt jetzt bei ca. 60 Grad, wenn nur bisl gebrowst wird.

Update
Mh gut ich korrigiere die Temperatur nach oben, beim Browsen komme ich doch auf ca. 75 Grad. Ist das normal?

je nach seite kann das durchaus hinkommen. wenn der webdesigner mit flash und javascript rum"saut", dann gehen cpulast und temperatur natürlich nach oben.

Definitiv nicht. Da solltest Du, egal mit welchem Prozessor, nicht über 50-60° kommen. Wie hoch ist denn Deine CPU-Auslastung dabei?

@Yatpu: 75°??? Bei nem R61 oder T61 ohne RMCLock vlt... aber Sandy Bridge im Nahezu-Idle doch nicht :facepalm:

Irgendwas läuft da vollkommen aus dem Ruder...

Also auf dem Systemmonitor sind alle 4 angezeigten CPUs meist unter 30%. 'sensors' gibt mir gerade für Core0 64 und für Core1 68 Grad aus. Das Einzige was ich hier mache ist, diesen Post zu tippen.

flash und amok laufendem javascript traue ich fast alles zu, wenns negativ ist.

ich sagte auch nicht, dass 75° völlig normal sind, sondern bei manchen seiten durchaus vorkommen können.

edit:
fast 30 % last ist auch schon nicht mehr idlen.

Deutlich zu hoch für nur Forum schreiben. Wenn die Lüftung funktioniert, solltest Du bei den Randbedingungen eher unter 50° sein - Richtung 40°!

Stell bitte zum Testen im BIOS auf "Integrated" und schau ob sich etwas ändert.

Die 30% CPU Last sind natürlich (OK, vermutlich) der Grund dafür, und eben auch nicht normal, wenn nur das Forum offen ist - welcher Prozess macht das?

Also laut Systemmonitor sind folgende aktiv (mehr als 0%):

gnome-system-monitor: schwankt sehr stark zwischen 20% und 60%
chrome: zwischen 8% und 16%
compiz: meist um die 4%
chrome (weitere chrome process): auch um die 4%

Kommen diese Temperaturen am Netzteil und/oder am Akku vor?

Die Temperatur lese ich mittels des Befehls 'sensors' aus, bzw. über ein Widget, dass diese in der Taskleiste anzeigt.

Ich hab im Bios auf "Integrated" umgestellt. Ich glaube das die Werte damit etwas besser sind. Die Temperaturen sind dann wie gefolgt:

Wenn ich kurz was mache, beispielsweise ein anderes Programm öffne, dann geht die Temp. kurz auf 60 bis 70 Grad und fällt dann wieder auf ca. 46 Grad. Schaut meines Erachtens nicht schlecht aus.

Die Temps im Idle sind ähnlich wie bei meinem X220 (i7-2640M@2.80GHz) im Dock. Beim Surfen ohne Flash geht meines aber auch nicht über 50°. Was mich irritiert, ist die hohe Lüfterdrehzahl. Die sollte im Idle eigentlich bei Stufe 1 = 2000/min sein.

Ich würde mal ein BIOS Update machen. Du hast 1.22, aktuell ist 1.39: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018784

Also das Bios Update hat keine wirkliche Verbesserung gebracht, eher das Gegenteil.

Also ohne irgendeinem geöffneten Programm, also auch kein Browser schauen die Temperaturen wie folgt aus:

Ist das Kernel 3? War da nicht was mit nicht vollständig implementierten Stromsparmechanismen?

T420 wird unter Ubuntu 12.04 und ohne Last sehr heiß
