T420, Ubuntu 12.04 und Displayport

hallo liebe gemeinde,

nach wochenlangen ergebnislosen googln möchte ich mich nun hier mit dem einzigen problem melden das mir oben gennantes setup bereitet. vielleicht nochmal im detail, es handelt sich hier um ein thinkpad t420, 128 gb samsung 830 ssd, 16 gb ram, einem i7 2620m (mit integriertem hd 3000) und einer nvidia nvs 4200m (1gb). zum einsatz kommt ubuntu 12.04.

mein plan war es, das thinkpad über ein displayport-hdmi kabel mit meinem samsung 32 zoll tv zu verbinden. also habe ich mir über amazon ein entsprechendes kabel besorgt und musste im anschluss feststellen das gar nichts geht. ich verbinden den tv mit dem laptop, das bild des tv`s wird schwarz (irgendein signal bekommt er also - ansonsten würde so etwas wie "überprüfen sie das signalkabel" kommen). also wurde google betätigt und das problem scheint durchaus bekannt zu sein, dementsprechend vielfältig fallen auch die tipps aus: proprietären treiber von nvidia für die nvs installieren kommt nicht in frage, ich arbeite schon lange mit ubuntu und nvidia karten in kombination, und weiß das dies nur zu problemen führen kann bzw. über irgendwelche updates am ende auch führt. hier setze ich auf den nouveau treiber. dann kamen tipps a'la im bios von "optimus" auf "discrete graphics" umstellen und ein paar andere möglichkeiten - alles probiert, nix funktioniert. ich kann den tv weder über das monitorsetting noch über arandr erkennen und bin mittlerweile der meinung das dieses problem schlicht nicht zu lösen ist.

deshalb möchte ich in letzter instanz hier nochmal nachfragen, hat irgendwer ideen oder mögliche lösungsvorschläge? ich wäre um jedenn tipp dankbar.

Hi,

es könnte sein, dass die pöse Hybridgrafik hier ausnahmsweise unschuldig ist und es schlicht am Kabel liegt. Man liest hier oft davon, nicht nur unter Linux. Schon ein anderes probiert?

Wobei ich einen reinen Nvidiabetrieb per "discrete" voraussetze – die Intel ist nicht mit dem Displayport verbunden.
 
...kurzer nachtrag: hab gerade eben nochmal das tp an den tv angeschlossen und nun ist das tv-display nicht mehr schwarz sondern hellgrün?

nein ich habe noch kein anderes kabel probiert, die dinger sind ja nicht ganz günstig und deshalb schrecke ich da vorm kauf etwas zurück. thema "discret": er fährt mir in dem modus mein ubuntu nichtmal richtig hoch.
 
Nur mit "discrete" erzwingst Du, dass Ubuntu die Nvidia benutzt. Bei "optimus" zieht Ubuntu imho immer die Intel vor und die Nvidia dient nur noch als Grafikheizung (nett im Winter bei kalten Händen ;) ).

Anscheinend kommt der noveau mit deiner Nvidia nicht gut klar, da hilft nur ein Versuch mit dem ebenfalls pösen proprietären Treiber. Damit geht dann aber kein xrandr mehr und Du musst das herstellereigene Tool verwenden: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/nvidia-settings
 
mit dem propretären treiber hab ich mir bisher noch jedes mal über kurz oder lang das system zerschossen :(
 
Viel falsch machen kann man da – zumindest bei der ubuntu-eigenen Variante – aber doch eigentlich nicht?! Nur beim Release-Upgrade klemmt es gerne.
 
könntest du mir kurz eine kleine anleitung schreiben wie du vorgehen würdest wenn eben der nouveau treiber schon vorinstalliert ist? ich hab bestimmt schon seid über 2 oder 3 jahren keinen proprietiären treiber mehr installiert weil ich einfach keinen grund sah mich diesen problemen auszusetzen. und ja, das releaseupgrade war noch immer das problem in meinem fall :D
 
unter "zusätzliche treiber" kann ich nichts machen. er sucht zu anfang nach verfügbaren treibern, findet da allerdings anscheinend nichts und sagt mir dann im anschluss "auf diesem system werden keine proprietiären treiber" verwendet. ich kann da also nichts machen?
 
wie ich schon sagte, das ist nicht möglich weil er mir dann nicht mehr richtig hochfährt, er versucht noch ubuntu zu booten bleibt dann aber mit nem schwarzen screen stehe.

und da wären wir wieder beim thema, ich kann ubuntu nicht hochfahren mit den discrete settings... :(
 
Kannst du nicht mit Strg+Alt+f1 oder so auf ein tty wechseln und dann die /var/log/Xorg.0.log wegsichern? Also mit discrete vor dem schwarzen bild.
 
so jetzt muss ich mich erstmal entschuldigen, ihr hattet natürlich beide recht mit discrete graphics. funktioniert hat es schlussendlich wegen der option "os detection for nvidia optimus" nicht, die musste natürlich zusätzlich deaktiviert werden. jetzt fährt er auch im discrete modus hoch - allerdings, scheint das eher eine glückssache zu sein.

der stand jetzt ist, das er entweder tadellos hochfährt, in einem völlig verzerrten bild hängen bleibt oder aber mit eine fehlermeldung a'la ... nouveau ... failed ... usw. stehen bleibt. wenn er einwandfrei hochfährt, kann ich mein displayportkabel anstecken, der fernseher wird erkannt und der spass kann beginnen. allerdings merkt man ganz deutlich das das es treiberprobleme gibt, die maus hängt stellenweise und in filmen kommt es zu leichten rucklern und schlieren.

über "zusätzliche treiber" findet er nachwievor keinen proprietären treiber. wie gehe ich jetzt am besten vor? als erstes sollte ich doch mal komplett nouveau los werden und dann den proprietären installieren?
