Lenovo expands its notebooks lineup
Lenovo is introducing a new notebook series in mid-December for the Asia-Pacific region and it looks to be a winner. The new Y Series notebooks come in 13" and 14" varieties and feature a number of enhancements to make them stand out from the ever-growing notebook realm.
The Y300 is the entry-level model, but its features are anything but bargain basement. The Y300 features a 13" screen and slot-loading DVD burner. The Y300 does away with a traditional fingerprint reader that has become prevalent on so many laptops these days and instead using a facial recognition technology via the built-in webcam. The 4.85 pound unit also features a dedicated GeForce Go 7300 GPU to handle graphics duties.
Stepping it up a notch is the Y400 with its 14" screen and 2-watt subwoofer. The Y400 does away with the integrated webcam, but does pickup flush-mounted touchpad and additional multimedia features.
Both notebooks feature Core 2 Duo processors and pricing should be announced closer to the December 15 launch. There no information yet on US availability for the notebooks.
