Hi, all:

Sorry I don't speak German and so I have to use English. Hope this won't offend you!

I come across the online-shop Luxnote on ebay. The price for Thinkpad is appealing, and I know they are second-hand.
I'm wondering whether the quality of those laptops is good or not. I notice a bad review which says that the laptop doesn't work normally after 1.5-2 years. I'm afraid of this coz I hope it can sustain for 3-4 years.

So can anyone tell me the truth about this shop? thanks!

Hi there, welcome to the ThinkPad-Forum!

It depends on the offer if it's cheap or not. You are allowed to post the link, then I can check it for you.

And the durability is dependent from the ThinkPad model. You shouldn't buy T61(p) with nVidia Quadro graphics, because they have a serial bug. One more thing about the quality: There is a-grade (German: "A-Ware") which is used but in good condition (some normal wear and tear) and b-grade (German: "B-Ware") which is in most rather bad condition. So b-grade offers are normally much cheaper.

Do you have a link? How much do you want to spend and what are your hardware requirements? Do you live in Germany?

I wanted to post a link, but always failed coz there may be censorship on links.
I'm in another EU country, not in Germany.

You just go to the website of Luxnote and you will see it on the first page, T400
or you search on ebay "T400 Luxnote"

I think he wants to buy that one:

www.ebay.de/itm/IBM-Lenovo-ThinkPad-T400-Core2Duo-2-4Ghz-14Zoll-2Gb-160Gb-1440x900-6474-B84-Win7-/111305954268?pt=DE_Technik_Computer_Peripheriegeräte_Notebooks&hash=item19ea5a13dc

That doesn't look like a good offer because of the CCFL backlight which becomes dark after long usage.

That one is good: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Lenovo-Think...eripheriegeräte_Notebooks&hash=item2ed2927575

ATi graphics, LED panel (even 1440x900)! But you do not have a modern OS on this T400.

Some guys here had problems with items declared as "A-grade" by Luxnote, which turned out to have some scratches and small defects and were rather B grade.
This is no big problem if you order from Germany, you can send it back for a full refund.

I don't know where the thread owner lives and if he/she has the same right - I wouldn't order anything without the possibility for sending the Thinkpad back to Luxnote.

You can post a Link in this Forum, but it has to be reviewed by a Moderator since you are a new Member!
Write a short Message (about what it is) to that Link, wait(also Moderators are only human ;) ) and it'll be there in a few hours.

Seems to be a very good one
If you don't have fear of little scratches that don't affect usability, you should buy it!
Only problem with Luxnote i heard is: You should budget a new Akku, because the one which comes with it is mostly a little lottery (it will be functional, but it won't last many hours)

Well, I've bought a B-Ware Thinkpad X200 Tablet and a friend of mine an A-Ware X200S. My X200 Tablet had seemed to had a corrupted OEM-image (I couldn't activate my Windows 7 Pro), so I reinstalled on a own license. A few days later, I've got a bluescreen. Some weeks later, it began to freeze and had two BSODs. It turned out, that the Harddrive had Reallocated Events and I'm currently changing it. I hope all the trouble will be resolved by then. At mine machine, there are some cracked out parts and some scratches.

My friend however, got the A-grade X200S laptop and it seems to be in a worse shape than my X200 Tablet. The battery is not in a good shape, it has broken off parts. But the OEM-image seems to be ok.

I recommend to check everything, from hardware to software upon receiving any order from that firm. The harddrive may have been run down and the image could have too much preinstalled.

I've also ordered a new battery from them for my R61e and it's beginning to make trouble, so I'm considering to change it.

Seems to be a very good one

I was very lucky with my device, my battery has only some circles and can hold up to 4 hrs. But watch out. Read the feedbacks of the user. I would recommend after all these experiences, to buy somewhere else or to digg deeper and watch out for some offers in your country of origin. Importing stuff from Germany may last longer than you expect. I wouldn't even import electronics from abroad. Postal services may abuse the package and you might receive a broken laptop. If you have a friend in Germany (Luxenote is from Laatzen near Hanover), I would ask him/her to buy it for yourself in Hanover or take deliver and take a little weekend trip to Germany and pick it up. It's for safety reasons, because our postal service often loose expensive stuff or steals them or opens packages.

Since you are from another nation, I would phone the dealer whether the notebook is available and in a good shape. It isn't worth at all, to buy blindly and rely on "official photos". One notice about the keyboard layout: Germany uses the QWERTZ-layout with Umlauts (ÜÖÄ) and the s-z (ß). The dealer often sells relabeled keyboards. The paint from my Enter-Key is already scratching off. I can see the shape of an "Z" on my "Y"-Key and "Y"-Key has a "Z"-Shape.

I hope this helps.

This is a generel problem of this type of keyboards.
The keyboards from Luxnote are "reprinted" or "relasered".
I think they do not communicate this very well.
Some time ago they called the real German Keyboards "original deutsch".
Today they call their renew keyboards "deutsch".
I think the quality is not the same. The renew are shining a bit.

But maybe you can ask them for a English-layout

Greetings
Christopher

EDIT1:

wow, Thanks.
I don't care about the OS coz I can install one by myself. I want to install two systems, window 7 and ubuntu

what I really care is the inside hardware: CPU, Ram, hard disk, motherboard.... etc, I hope the laptop can sustain 3-4 years.

I don't care the little scratches. I only hope the laptop can work normally for 3-4 years.
I'm in Italy and I'm afraid if there are some issues on the hardware and then I have to pay the shipping fees for exchange

sorry, I have to delete your link so as to post successfully

the link you post is about a laptop from another company:
[h=2]IT-Mixx[/h]
how reliable it is?

@esolve:
You must have a look at www.thinkspot.de !
The owner (Matthias) is perfect with speaking English.

Edit: Link fixed
