Returning to the quesiton of how to put t440 IPS panel (having eDP interface) into T420 / T430 (that have LVDS panel interface).
Recently found this converter on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-EDP1080P-V6-LVDS-Signal-to…sh=item259587f25e
By it's size it's intended for some desktop monitor (e.g. see this lot:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NT68676-L...Monitor_Replacement_Parts&hash=item2341503828)
If we ignore for the moment it's size and how to fit it in and how to make the cables, is it generally possible to use this converter for the task? What one needs to know about number of bits, channels, etc in the LVDS and eDP signals?
The mentioned converter is based on IT6251FN chip, did not find any datasheet on it, just a brief description (from here:
http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/11231322/IT6251FN_AX.html):
LVDS to DispalyPort 1.1a Transmitter 64-pin QFN
The IT6251 is a high-performance single-chip De-SSC LVDS to DisplayPort converter. Combined with LVDS receiver and DisplayPort Transmiier, the IT6251 supports LVDS input and DisplayPort 1.1a outpout by conversion function. The built-in LVDS receiver can support single-link and dual-link LVDS inputs, the built-in DisplayPort transmitter is fully compliant with DisplayPort 1.1a specification. With high speed LVDS RX, the IT6251 can support resolution up to 1080P and UXGA and 10-bit deep colors.
And there's a couple other chips from ST, they do have datasheets, but I did not find any ready boards made with them:

Anyone who can give any more information about these things?
