T14*/T15* T14 G3 Dock Probleme (gelöst - BIOS Update nun verfügbar)

Hallo zusammen,

mein T14 Gen3 hängt in Bootloop fest (rotes Lenovo Logo kommt und geht) sobald am USB-C Dock auch nur ein einziges USB Gerät angesteckt ist. Sobald der Windows Anmeldebildschirm sichtbar ist, kann man USB Geräte anstecken (Maus/Tastatur) welche dann ohne Probleme funktionieren.
Ich habe es sowohl mit verschiedenen Mäusen als auch Tastaturen probiert.
Getestet mit ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock (40B0) als auch mit ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2 (40AN).
Woran kann das liegen?

BIOS version N3MET08W 1.05

Ist für dein System ein neueres BIOS verfügbar? Mein T14 ist auf 1.27 (ich habe aber auch die Variante mit dGPU).

Bei mir funktioniert die 40B0-Dock einwandfrei.

Ja, die neue Dock-FW hab ich auch schon gesehen und warte darauf.

habe gerade ein downgrade auf 1.03 gemacht, keine Änderung.
Aktueller Workflow, T14 auf Akku hochfahren, dann erst das USB-C (TB4) Kabel anschliessen. Super Lösung

Der Link funktioniert, weil er direkt auf die Datei verweist. Bei mir ist 1.0.0.6 installiert und ich werde aktuell nichts ändern, da alles funktioniert. Aber wenn es bei dir eh Probleme gibt? Du kannst im Update-Utility auch erst einmal "Check" auswählen, um zu prüfen, was aktuell installiert ist.

Okay, du bist also offensichtlich schon auf einer höheren Version. Vielleicht hat die einfach Probleme im Vergleich zu der älteren, und daher ist auch aktuell keine FW verfügbar? Du könntest ein Downgrade probieren, das habe ich im Lenovo-Forum ebenfalls schon gesehen.

es wird "lustiger" ...
heute Morgen erkannte er erst nach mehrmaligem Anstecken die Dockingstation und gab die Meldung
"eingeschränkte USB4 Funktionalität...."
Was wird das noch werden? Ist die wackelige USB-Buchse nach 2 Monaten schon kaputt..die machte vom ersten tag an einen jämmerlichen Eindruck.

Update: habe heute im BIOS F9 (Default Settings) gedrückt - keine Ahnung warum, aber jetzt geht es wieder....

Ich habe keine Idee, da ich dort aktiv nie was verändert habe, kann mir nur erklären das durch das BIOS Update auf 1.05 sich was selbst verstellt hat.

Das mache ich tatsächlich nach jedem Update, einmal per F9 Default Settings laden - ich passe aber auch nichts groß im BIOS an.

Mach ich auch fast immer, Lenovo sagt auch (jedenfalls bei meinem ollen T450s) bei jedem UEFI Update im Readme, dass man nach dem Update manuell resetten solle.

Dears,

dieses Problem ist für viele neue Notebooks in Kombi mit dem TB4-Dock leider noch nicht gelöst.

Bei meinen älteren Devices (Baujahr 2020/2021) gibt es das Problem nicht, auch bei meinen Macs nicht - aber bei den neuesten Lenovo Notebooks (Baujahr 2022/2023) gibt es weiterhin das Bootloop-Problem.

Bei mir funktioniert dieser Workaround - vielleicht hilft es auch Euch (copy-paste ein Eintrag aus dem Lenovo Forum):

I can reproduce the problem with various new machines and two docks - all machines and the dock are on the latest firmware, the "reset BIOS to default" does NOT WORK for me.


However, I don't have a fix, but a workaround that does it.


Testing all the ports situation is as follows:

- Freezing/bootlooping happens only when specific ports (5 out of 7) with specific devices on the dock are used

- Freezing/bootlooping happens only when those specific ports are used with Mouse/Keyboard

- Freezing/boootlooping happens on those specific ports independent of type (USB A/C)

- Freezing/bootlooping does NOT happen on two specific USB-A Ports


Workaround:

- Use mouse and keyboard only on those two specific ports, that don't trigger a bootloop

- Use the other ports (that trigger a bootloop with mouse or keyboard) for other devices (such as webcam)


Attached a picture of which ports do work and do not cause a bootloop with a mouse/keyboard attached.


Yes - its super annoying, but if you stick to the workaround you should be able to use the dock normally.
