T-Mobile is replacing the antiquated trackballs on BlackBerry's Pearl 8100 and 8120, and the Curve 8320 smartphones for free from the 15th of February, to any customers who are having problems with them. It's one of the reasons RIM moved from trackballs to optical trackpads, so if you aren't having problems yet, mark my words: you will. [TMO News via Electronista]

Ist damit gemeint das sich der Trackball manchmal verklemmt und dann nicht mehr drehen lässt? Kommt bei meinem blöden Bold 9000 manchmal vor...

Dann halte og Info/Termin mal im Auge! Dein Problem scheint nicht ein Einzelfall zu sein und es ist eine gute Gelegenheit dann da Abhilfe zu schaffen...

Wollte evtl Nutzern nur einen Gefallen tun, weil solche Gelegenheiten/Termine nicht unbedingt jeder mitbekommt und wir schließlich alle im selben Boot sitzen... (zwar mit verschiedenen Handys...)

ich glaube 2/3 aller durch meine hände gewanderten blackberries (blackberrys?) hatte einen defekt mit dem trackball. nicht nur bei den 3 genannten.

Bei mir genauso.
Der Trackball drehte einfach durch ohne das leise Klicken bei jeder Bewegung. Ich habe schon 6 Blackberrys von 10 deshalb umtauschen müssen.
Waren alles 8300 Curve. Der 8320 hat bisher durchgehalten.

TMO hat afaik in Deutschland nie den 8320 verkauft, lediglich den 8310 oder irre ich mich? Nichtsdestotrotz, ich würde mich freuen, da der Trackball meines 8310 auch schon mal bessere Zeiten gesehen hat.

8320 sagt mir jetzt auch nix.

2) mir egal

nein, ich find die trackpoints von der bedienung her echt gut - richtig haptisch (fast so wie ein ibm-nubbel), aber die ausfallquote ist echt nicht schön.
