The panel on my t61 has a crack and I'm looking to replace it.
I'm currently situated in Denmark (hence the post in english), but as far as I can see, prices on parts are much cheaper in Germany.
Can anyone give me advice on where in Germany to buy a new screen?
The screen currently installed is a 1280*800, but I have been told by Lenovo that I can put a 1440*900 in it as inverter etc are the same.
As far as I can tell the following wxga+ panels should all be compatible.

220nit, LG-Display42T0406
200nit LG-Display42T0427
200nit LG-Display42T0579
200nit, CMO42T0453
200nit, Samsung13N7108
200nit, Samsung42T041
200nit, Samsung42T0583

Of course I prefer a 220nit display, but it is not a must.
I'm looking for something in the pricerange of 60-120euro so any brand will do
I will be ordering the panel either for postal delivery to Denmark or I will have it send to a friends adress in Berlin and pick it up there.

Help is greatly appreciated as my skills in german are too simple for me to browse the "German www"

EDIT: Any known issues with upgrading from wxga to wxga+? (Lenovo told me that there is no problem but "UK screen specialists" told me that BIOS issues are known to occur?)
Any visible difference bewteen 185 nit, 200nit and 220 nit on a non-glossy panel? ( my main reason for upgrading to wxga+ was to get better brightness and contrast, not so much for the higher ress.)

thanks for the swift replies :)
I took a look at the link you posted, as I mentioned, I prefer a wxga+ (1440*900) and I forgot to mention that I prefer buying it from an eu country as I will have to pay 25% tax othervise.
I have looked around the german and the english ebay but I havent found any satisfying results (either to expensive or too little information on the exact speccs)
Preferably I'd like to be directed to a trusted german seller or site and then I'll googletranslate my way from there .)

I see, that looks like a nice deal only downside is that its glossy... I actually never owned a glossy diply, just heard the hatefull rumors..
I think I prefer a non-glossy but if glossy is all I can get in this pricerange/speccs I'll go for it

If you've never owned a glossy display, I wouldn't start with it now... A T61 with a glossy display, can't even imagine that

I owned a dell notebook with a glossy display and I must say: never ever again: My desk at work is next to the window and on a sunny day I've never seen anything on my display, except my own face X(

In my opinion in this case its better to purchase a non-glossy display from the US and pay the tax. Unfortunately I'm also not an expert with displays. But maybe there will be some others with good suggestions where to purchase...

People upgraded XGA to SXGA+ on several X-Series with modded BIOSes :)
But if your Model exists in WXGA+, it should be possible without modding, as BIOS is same.

The real question is: is there a whitelist in the bios for only Lenovo panels (i don't know) and whether the connector will match, or will you need to solder a new one.
Thus a real lenovo screen from china would be better IMHO (we have 19% tax here, and a friend got a XGA for his X60s at 80E after tax and shipping, which is a really good price)

ty for comments, as so oftern 1 question is answered with 2 new questions .)
Lenovo says that the connectors are the same and I've spoken to several shops offering unoriginal replacements so I assume that any brand will do (gonna look into that though)
Maybe I should considder the china though...

Be careful with unoriginal replacement panels. The bios contains a suchcalled "withelist" only accepting original panels that are used by the manufacturer to built in. if u use a not supported panel the bios of ur T61 won´t accepted the panel. As i know there are eprom modifyings necessary to make it work.
