Hi guys,
I own a Thinkpad w520 and yesterday my battery charger slip through my hands and drop from a heigh of about 1 meter. Is there any risk at short term that my laptop will be damaged due to malfunction of my battery charger such as an overdose of energy or anything else? when i close my ear to the battery charger i just notice that it sounds like a fan inside the charger and as i plug the charger into my laptop the led indicator flash for a few seconds (i could not say that such a sound or flicker was there before my battery droped).
Thank in advance.

Do you mean the power supply? If so, some relatively high-pitched whirring or whizzing sounds are normal... if it still works normally I wouldn't worry.

I suppose any genuine Lenovo charger should have some kind of malfunction detection mechanism which would make the device stop working alltogether so you'd not damage your other hardware. I've only seen one charger die since I use Thinkpads and that one just didn't work any more at all. I put some of mine through a lot of misery already (falling from 1 meter happens almost once a week here...) and they still work fine.

The flashing LED when plugging in is perfectly normal and the sound is too. As long as it keeps charging the battery, you needn't worry. Thinkpads do have a limiting fuse that will notice any unusual power flow and will protect the rest of the machine from being charged at an unacceptable voltage or amperage.

Exactly, I could hardly imagine a Thinkpad charger dying from such a minor fall...
