Edge E-Serie Edge 11 - Touchpad/-stick funktioniert nicht

Hi folks,

ich habe hier ein Edge 11 zu liegen bei dem das Touchpad bzw. Trackpoint nicht mehr funktioniert. Die Tastatur funktioniert ohne Probleme. Die Windows Maus Einstellungen meckern darüber, dass kein entsprechendes Synaptics Eingabegerät gefunden worden ist.
Ich habe eine neue Tastatur besorgt in der Hoffnung zumindest den Trackpoint wieder zum laufen zu kriegen - allerdings ohne Erfolg.
Wo liegt der Fehler?

Funktioniert das Touchpad bzw. Trackpoint nur wenn beide Geräte angeschlossen sind. Müsste ich also auch ein neues Palm rest besorgen?
Oder ist etwas an der Hardware/Mainboard vielleicht etwas kaputt?

Ich werde das Gerät auf jedenfall nochmal mit Linux testen und berichten.

Die Idee bekam ich erst beim schreiben. Ich werde es am Wochenende mit Linux testen und berichten!
 
Also unter Linux funktioniert Touchpad/Trackpoint auch nicht. Per lsusb wird kein verdächtiges Gerät angezeigt. Xinput gibt als pointer nur den "Virtual core Xtest pointer aus".
Liegt nun ein defekt auf dem Mainboard vor oder sollte ich das Palm rest austauschen?
 
Es wäre hilfreich, wenn Du den Output hier in code-Tags posten würdest. Wenn Du schon dabei bist kannst Du auch noch den Output von dmesg durchsuchen.

Wann trat der Defekt zum ersten Mal auf?

Gab es Flüssigkeitseinwirkung?

Der Defekt trat nach einer Bastelei am Gerät auf. Es kann also schon passiert sein, dass ich im Eifer des Gefechts ein Kabel zu stark geknickt, die Anschlusskontakte beschädigt habe o.Ä.
Den Trackpoint/Tastatur habe ich ausgetauscht ohne eine Verbesserung zu erzielen. Darum die Frage ob eventuell auch das Touchpad angeschlossen sein muss oder das Mainboard "einen Weg hat"?
Einen Softwarefehler würde ich ausschließen. Als Distribution habe ich Knoppix eingesetzt.
