T4xx (T400-450 ohne "T440s/T450s") T420/T430(s) auf FHD IPS umrüsten...Gute News ab Beitrag #35

For this modification you need a modified bios for FHD and new lcd cable, edp interface circuit board etc. It takes two weeks to develop bios , and circuit board, new edp lcd cable etc. The cost is secret.

Sounds good... are you planning on making the BIOS available to the Thinkpad community? How about specs for the cable? Schematics for the circuit board? :)

For the time being, I have no plan to release the bios.( The bios is should be modified for support more FHD panel. At the current time, I have developed two kinds of bios . One is a "EDID" interface bios, the other is a manual bios for AUO B140HAN01.1. )But I can release the bios in future:).

Fair enough. Were you able to use an off-the-shelf circuit board for the LVDS=>eDP converter? Where exactly did you put it?

Any chance you could post some pictures? :)

This is a image for you. I should go to sleep. Have a good day!

Looks good... good night then. Looking forward to more info (like the LVDS/eDP converter IC you used :D) :)

hi and a happy welcome leokim ... to our neat tp-community.

i already heard from your awsome FHD-screen mod for the T420(s) etc. really looking forward to more infos. congrats to your great engineering work to make this happen!

cheers,
gaku

Returning to the quesiton of how to put t440 IPS panel (having eDP interface) into T420 / T430 (that have LVDS panel interface).
Recently found this converter on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-EDP1080P-V6-LVDS-Signal-to…sh=item259587f25e

By it's size it's intended for some desktop monitor (e.g. see this lot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NT68676-L...Monitor_Replacement_Parts&hash=item2341503828)

If we ignore for the moment it's size and how to fit it in and how to make the cables, is it generally possible to use this converter for the task? What one needs to know about number of bits, channels, etc in the LVDS and eDP signals?

The mentioned converter is based on IT6251FN chip, did not find any datasheet on it, just a brief description (from here: http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/11231322/IT6251FN_AX.html):

LVDS to DispalyPort 1.1a Transmitter 64-pin QFN

The IT6251 is a high-performance single-chip De-SSC LVDS to DisplayPort converter. Combined with LVDS receiver and DisplayPort Transmiier, the IT6251 supports LVDS input and DisplayPort 1.1a outpout by conversion function. The built-in LVDS receiver can support single-link and dual-link LVDS inputs, the built-in DisplayPort transmitter is fully compliant with DisplayPort 1.1a specification. With high speed LVDS RX, the IT6251 can support resolution up to 1080P and UXGA and 10-bit deep colors.

And there's a couple other chips from ST, they do have datasheets, but I did not find any ready boards made with them:

Anyone who can give any more information about these things?

Original Thread: http://forum.51nb.com/viewthread.php?tid=1552978&extra=page=1&page=1

Bilder davon hier: http://www.abload.de/gallery.php?key=pSi0FKjP

Bin sehr interessiert. Habe mich eigens dafür registriert. MfG

Ja, das meiste macht die Platine. Also kein Bios patchen.

MfG
