Hi, any chance one of you could make an detailed english guide on how to install this one on xubuntu 16.04 64bit - I have it on 14.04 32bit and love it, but read that in order to get it on 16.04 and make it work with newer thinkpads(X300) I need to compile it from source code from https://github.com/tpfanco/tpfancod and https://github.com/tpfanco/tpfanco-admin - being a noob, I don't know how to do that. Also I don't read german and have been using Google translate, which makes some very strange translations - that I rather be without it:(

Thinkfan I tried on 14.04 and preferred tpfanco over it, since thinkfan were not working correctly on my laptop.

In 16.04 64bit on my X300, right now I'm not using anything and Xsensor, Psensor, and Sensor plugin repport the fan to be running 5731rpm constantly eventhough the temp go down to 34-43 degrees celsius. If I could get tpfanco installed I could reduce that to use 20% fan or something like that.

Hope someone can help me out here:)

Please don't refer me to other sites, I have already searched google for this and most are not updated to 16.04 and not 64bit or are in different language than english.

A guide in this thread would make a whole lot of difference, not only for me, but also for others.

Thank you in advance:)

JBJ

EDIT: Guide here:

Download
https://github.com/tpfanco/tpfancod
https://github.com/tpfanco/tpfanco-admin

then extract the files to a temporary folder

Go to the tpfancod-master folder and open a terminal, then run this command

sudo make install-systemd

Then

sudo systemctl enable tpfancod

Reboot your laptop

Then in terminal run

systemctl status tpfancod

Close the terminal window if everything ok, if not then go to https://github.com/tpfanco/tpfancod/issues and file the issue

Now open the tpfanco-admin-master folder

Open a terminal and run

sudo make install

then

Reboot your laptop

Open a terminal and run

tpfanco-admin_polkit

Reboot once more and you can find tpfanco-admin in Applications>Settings

You have to type your password for it to work.

Hope this helps someone
