bis jetzt sichere ich meine ext4 Partitionen mit dem fsarchiver und den Bootsektor mit dd.
Den Bootsektor muß ich extra sichern, weil der fsarchiver filesystembasiert arbeitet.
Partimage, das ich bei ext3 benutzt habe habe arbeitete sektorenweise und somit war kein zusätzlich sichern de Bootsektors erforderlich.
Gibt es ein bessere Lösung als fsarchiver mit dd?

Edit: Clonezilla kann man mit Grub2 direkt vom Iso booten.(in den RAM) und ist nur 130 MB groß.
Die Datensicherung ist rasend schnell, Clonezilla verwendet Partclone.

True Image Home 2011 gefällt mir nicht. Es sichert den Bootsektor von logischen Laufwerken nicht.
Nutzt man die Option Sektorweise kopieren wird die Image-Datei extrem groß. Meine Partition ist 20 GB große, die Image-Datei war dann ca. 10 GB.

True Image Home 2012 gefällt mir auch nicht. Es sichert den Bootsektor von logischen Laufwerken nicht.
Nutzt man die Option Sektorweise kopieren wird die Image-Datei extrem groß. Das ist besonders tragisch, weill ich bis heute keine Lösung für eine nachträgliche Installation von Grub2 in den PBR gefunden habe.

MBR backup
In order to backup only the first few bytes containing the MBR and the partition table you can use dd as well.
dd if=/dev/hdx of=/path/to/image count=1 bs=512
MBR restore
dd if=/path/to/image of=/dev/hdx
Add "count=1 bs=446" to exclude the partition table from being written to disk. You can manually restore the table.
